The Police Commissioner's efforts to start a national conversation about surveillance has been panned by the Green Party. Andrew Coster wrote an opinion piece, which was published in the New Zealand Herald yesterday, headlined " Policing damned if we do and if we don't". It was written in response to accusations the police failed to monitor an online bulletin board where threats were posted recently against Christchurch mosques. The police have also come under scrutiny for photographing of Māori youths in the street. Hamish Cardwell has the story.
