Waka ama sprint championships attract thousands of paddlers

The annual Waka Ama National Sprint Championships have been held over the past week with an estimated 10,000 turning up at Lake Karapiro near Cambridge, after many events were put on hold due to the Covid 19 pandemic. 3,500 people compete, with paddlers ranging from children to seniors who race in everything from singles to 12 person teams. Reporter Te Aorewa Rolleston was at Lake Karapiro to check out some of the races.
