Science teachers are warning their subject is being left by the wayside, as the Ministry of Education rushes to stem a long-term decline in maths results. The ministry has called in the Royal Society to look at how maths teaching can be improved, as scores continue to decline every year. New Zealand children are also faring relatively poorly in science. Chris Duggan is a science teacher, and the chief executive and founder of House of Science, which provides science programmes for schools.
