Road safety enforcement improvements delayed
Moves to improve the fractured enforcement of road safety have been delayed for more than a year. The Government's aim to fix a confusing overlap between the Waka Kotahi - the NZ Transport Agency, WorkSafe and Police has been delayed by the pandemic response. Any change was due last year but now won't happen till next year. The Road Transport Forum's Nick Leggett says that's too slow, and it's urgent Waka Kotahi be given health and safety investigation powers at road crashes because WorkSafe is not up to it.
