Police have been forced to front-up and explain why they are collecting details and photos of innocent young people. RNZ first reported on rangatahi being stopped and phographed by officers in Wairarapa, but can now reveal it has happened to rangatahi across the country. Assistant Police Commissioner Chris de Wattignar told Morning Report police routinely record interactions they have with people, but that officers need to ensure young people are giving informed consent. He denies officers are racially profiling young people. RNZ's Te Aniwa Hurihanganui speaks to Māni Dunlop.
