Otago residents offered blood tests for lead

Blood testing starts today for residents of two Otago towns which have had high readings of lead in their water supplies. People in Waikouaiti and Karitane were first told about high levels of lead in their water supply last week. One sample taken in December showed lead levels 40 times over the allowable limit and new test results will be available today. Waikouaiti Coast Community Board chair, Alasdair Morrison told RNZ reporter Sally Murphy they're not sure how many people will turn out at the East Otago Events centre for blood tests.
