Minister facing pressure to act on contaminant dumping

Local Government Minister Nanaia Mahuta is facing pressure to do more to prevent companies dumping contaminated waste water. RNZ has revealed hundreds of companies have breached their trade waste consents - often multiple times - in the past year, without penalty. A loophole in the law allows companies to get away with dumping waste, knowing they're highly unlikely to face prosecution. Mahuta is Local Government Minister.
