Military takes over in Myanmar

Myanmar's military has seized control in a coup and detained the country's elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi and other senior politicians. A year long state of emergency has been declared by the military and power has been transferred to the top military commander General Min Aung Hlaing. The coup comes after tensions rose between the civilian government and the military following a disputed election in November. Richard Ehrlich is a Bangkok-based correspondent for The Washington Times. He's been following the turmoil in Myanmar as the military took power.
