Greenpeace calls for end to synthetic nitrogen fertiliser
Greenpeace is calling on the government to phase out synthetic nitrogen fertiliser, as Fonterra faces accusations of contaminating drinking water with nitrates. An RNZ investigation revealed that the dairy giant is using 16 empty farms to dispose of factory wastewater, and nitrates have leached into nearby private water bores.
