Fonterra cleared farms to dispose of factory wastewater
Fonterra has cleared 16 of the farms it owns and is using the land to dispose of factory wastewater, which has leached nitrates into private drinking water supplies. The dairy giant has given some worried neighbours filters to remove the nitrates. But others who live near the farms may not even know the colourless, flavourless, odourless - and potentially dangerous - pollutant could be in their water too.
