Te Tai Tokerau Border Control says the checkpoints they set up to protect Māori should never have been closed down.  Community-managed checkpoints were set up in Northland three weeks ago in an effort to stop the spread of the South African strain of the Covid-19 virus.  However police closed the checkpoints, citing safety concerns. Te Tai Tokerau Border Control spokesman Hone Harawira spoke to Corin Dann.
