\\nA few months ago, we read Marge Piercy\\u2019s 1976 novel Woman on the Edge of Time for our book club. The main character of the novel is Mexican-American, and the author is a non-Latinx white woman, and unfortunately sometimes that shows. It\\u2019s a little clunky in parts. It\\u2019s a really good book, highly recommended, no disrespect to Marge Piercy, but there are a few moments where it\\u2019s really glaringly obvious that this is a well-meaning white lady writing a Chicano character. But while I was reading it, I started to ask myself, \\u201cHas Latinx representation in American sci-fi and fantasy really gotten any better since that book was written fifty years ago?\\u201d And the answer is, I\\u2019m not sure.
