PHARR, RGV - This podcast features extensive audio coverage of a USMCA forum held at the Pharr Events Center on Friday, Aug. 30, 2019.

The event was hosted by the Rio Grande Valley Partnership and Futuro RGV.

The forum was divided into two parts. Salvador Contreras, an economics professor at UT-Rio Grande Valley, gave an overview of U.S. trade with Mexico and explained the differences between the North American Free Trade Agreement and the United States-Mexico-Canada agreement. Contreras then moderated a panel discussion between Luis Bazan, director of the Pharr International Bridge, Ralph Cowen, a commissioner for Brownsville Navigation District, and Keith Patridge, president of McAllen Economic Development Corporation.

The second part of the forum started with remarks from Pharr Mayor and RGV Metropolitan Planning Organization Chairman Ambrosio Hernandez. His remarks teed up a conversation between U.S. Sen. John Cornyn and U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar that was moderated by UTRGV Vice President Veronica Gonzales.
