MISSION, RGV - Laredo-based Killam Development has acquired approximately 3,400 acres in Mission and McAllen from Hunt Valley Development.\\xa0

According to Killam, the property will be the site of a \\u201clarge master planned development that will include places for people of all generations to live, work and play. It will include walkable neighborhoods, walking trails and park space, connections to entertainment and commercial districts and education centers.\\u201d

The purchase also includes opportunity for commercial industrial development near the Anzalduas International Bridge.\\xa0

The public and community stakeholders will be asked what they want to see included in the development beginning with a series of public workshops in January.\\xa0

In the above podcast, Rio Grande Guardian editor Steve Taylor interviews Cliffe Killam, a partner at Killam Development, Daniel Silva, executive director of Mission Economic Development Corporation, and Mission Mayor Armando O\\u2019Ca\\xf1a.

We also hear from Mario A. Pe\\xf1a, of Able City, the company that will be conducting the public workshops for Killam.

Cliffe Killam said: \\u201cWe want this to be a special place that people are proud of and excited about because they helped build it. This will be a hands-on design process. We will turn citizen-inspired ideas into a comprehensive vision that becomes reality, resulting in something bigger and better because we did it together.\\u201d

Construction could begin early next year, with home sales anticipated by the fall of 2020.\\xa0
