Former state Sen. Eddie Lucio, Jr., and Brownsville Navigation District Commissioner John Wood have paid tribute to Mario A. Martinez, the longtime lobbyist for the City of Brownsville and the Port of Brownsville.\\xa0
Martinez, of Rockport, Texas, died unexpectedly on June 28, 2023, at the age of 69.\\xa0
Martinez\\u2019s life will be celebrated with a service at Riverbend Church in Austin on Thursday, June 13. A reception will follow. Lucio says he intends to be at the service. Wood says Eduardo Campirano, port director of Brownsville Navigation District, also hopes to attend.
