Futuro RGV leaders weigh in on rezoning of Green Jay Park

MCALLEN, Texas - Although community group Futuro RGV did not take an official position on whether to the City of McAllen should rezone Green Jay Park, some of its leaders did offer public testimony.


Although Futuro President Nedra Kinerk could not be present when the issue was debated at city hall, she sent a representative to speak for her. Kinerk said she was for moving the park from \\u201cagricultural/open space\\u201d to \\u201clight industrial.\\u201d


Futuro Treasurer, Laurel McLeaish, spoke against the move.\\xa0


Both Kinerk and McLeaish spoke in their personal capacities. Both are McAllen residents.


McAllen City Commission voted unanimously in favor of making Green Jay Park, a property of the city, \\u201clight industrial.\\u201d This paves the way for tech giants Zoho Corporation to purchase the land and build a 90-acre campus.\\xa0
