SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, RGV - Author W.F. Strong autographed copies of his book, Stories From Texas - Some of Them Are True, at Paragraphs bookstore on South Padre Island this past weekend.

Rio Grande Guardian presenter Mario Mu\\xf1oz was there to catch a brief interview. It was Mu\\xf1oz, when he was a morning show presenter on RGV Public Radio 88 FM, the Rio Grande Valley’s previous NPR station, who encouraged Strong to write the book. Strong, a communications professor at UT-Rio Grande Valley, used to recount stories from Texas on Mu\\xf1oz’s show.

Strong, who grew up in Texas, has been collecting the folk lore of Texas since childhood.

In the above podcast, Strong points out that the book is selling all over the world. “It has a wide reach because Texas has a great mystique around the world. People around the world want to know about it,” Strong said.

In the interview, Strong tells Mu\\xf1oz to expect a second Stories From Texas book sometime in 2020.
