Debt Repayment Journey Update & Supporting the Black Economy

Published: June 15, 2020, 1 p.m.

Welcome Back to another episode of Money Boosting Mondays.

In today's episode, I provide an update on my credit score. Wooohoo! I also do a recap of my debt repayment goals. There is a bit of discussion about various financial options to assist with the goal of becoming debt-free, and the importance of financial literacy.

At this time, the Black Community and others around the world are responding to the Black Lives Matter Movement. Black men and women are dying at the hands of police officers daily. The incidents are not declining although there are protest happening around the world. The issue of racism in the justice system, the education system, healthcare, housing, and other areas of life is overwhelming. The structures in these systems that allow such behaviours to be justified will take years to improve.

The one thing we can focus on ourselves is economic growth within the Black Community. I play a clip from Professor @kein America who shares her views of the importance of circulating our money in the black community. I stand in solidarity with her statement.

I share part of an article in the Toronto Star that mentions the Pan African Credit Union that is in the process of being formulated to provide us here in Canada our own financial institution.
