As of Friday, more than 100,000 Russian troops are massed on the Ukrainian border. All of Europe is on edge, and the Biden administration is engaged in round-the-clock diplomacy to try to avert war, even as the president has said repeatedly that he believes the Russians will act – and soon. Here at home, the prospect of war in Europe has sparked debate on America’s role and responsibilities abroad. Some – especially within the GOP – say America should stay out. Others say that in the wake of the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, America must stand firm.
