Published: Jan. 2, 2020, 3:30 p.m.

A government crisis, rising crime, an academy scandal and Greta. Join us as we take a look back at the top stories that defined the past 12 months.

The year began with a political agreement that put an end to Sweden's 4-month-long wait for a new government after the 2018 general election. 2019 also saw violent crime increase as well as a few high-profile killings that captured the media's and public's attention. It was the year of Greta Thunberg as well, who's environmental justice movement that began in Sweden continued to make waves across the world.
