Captain Planet Came to My School: Earth Day at 50

Published: April 24, 2020, 9 p.m.

Alan Hancock of the Coastal Conservation League, Rebecca Haynes of Conservation Voters of South Carolina, and Bill Stangler, the Congaree Riverkeeper, break down the week in conservation and politics in South Carolina.

We chat about the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, talk to Bob Guild about Earth Day 1970 and the work of the South Carolina Chapter of the Sierra Club, and to State Senator John Matthews about his long career in state government.

Public Concern is the weekly podcast from the South Carolina Conservation Coalition. The name of our podcast comes from Article 12 of the South Carolina Constitution, which is all about the functions of government: “The health, welfare, and safety of the lives and property of the people of this State...and the conservation of its natural resources are matters of public concern.”
