b'Hello, and welcome to Episode 90 of the Planning Period Podcast, your #EdBreakroom. I\'m your host, Brad Shreffler.
Before I get to this week\'s episode, I have an exciting announcement! Planning Period Podcast is participating in its first in-person meetup! I will be joining up with Chris Nesi, Stacy Lindes, and AJ Bianco of Podcast PD, and others at ISTE 2019 in Philly. The meetup will be on Sunday, June 23rd at 6 pm. We will be meeting at Pat\'s King of Steaks. We are going to do the Pat\'s vs. Geno\'s challenge, which means eat a cheesesteak at Pat\'s then go across the street to Geno\'s. So, if you\'d like to meet me and other education podcasters, and you\'ll be in Philly on Sunday, join us at Pat\'s King of Steaks, June 23rd at 6 pm!
This week on the show I am joined by Glen Irvin. Glen is a former Spanish teacher, now instructional coach, and one of the hosts of the OnEducation podcast, which is a really awesome show. I also had the chance to meet Glen last year at ISTE briefly, and he was a really cool guy to chat with, so I was excited to get him on the show.
Glen and I talk about his podcast and how it came to be, what being an instructional technology coach is like, the challenges and advantages of being an instructional coach, the problems with standardized testing, the need to step out of your classroom and use social media to connect with other educators, Glen\'s thoughts on Teachers Pay Teachers and other side hustles, and the importance of telling kids they are special.
So, sit back and enjoy Episode 90 of the Planning Period Podcast, my interview with Glen Irvin.

Glen, thank you so much for joining me on the show. You really got me thinking, especially with your comments about the cyclical nature of the school year making change harder. In fact, after we recorded this episode, Glen sent me a link to a blog post he wrote about that topic that is definitely worth the read. He does an awesome job of explaining the idea further, and makes an excellent gaming metaphor to boot. You can find it at this link.
To connect with Glen, find him on Twitter @irvspanish. You can also email him at glenirvin@gmail.com.\\xa0 Also, definitely checkout the OnEducation podcast, which is a truly wonderful show about technology in education, gaming, and just a lot of fun to listen to. You can find that show in iTunes by searching OnEducation, or at this link in the show notes.
If you have comments or questions about the show, you can always connect with me on twitter, @BradShreffler, and now on Instagram @BradShreffler as well. I love to hear from you there. That\'s also a great place to connect if you\'d like to be a guest on the show. Or, the Feedback Page on my website gives you options for feedback as well, which you can find at BradShreffler.com/Feedback. And I look forward to meeting some of you at ISTE on Sunday, June 23rd at 6 pm!
Until next week, think of ways to break the cycle of school so change can happen.
