Douglas Konopelko ISTE and Screen Time

Published: July 5, 2019, 1 p.m.

b'Hello, and welcome to Episode 92 of the Planning Period Podcast, your #EdBreakroom. I\'m your host, Brad Shreffler.
This week on the show I am joined by Douglas Konopelko. I heard Doug speak during an IGNITE session at ISTE, and instantly sent him a DM to invite him on the show. Coordinator of Digital Learning for Martin County School District on the East Coast of Florida. He focuses on the implementation, planning, and instructional use of technology in the school district. He\'s also a father and graphic designer.
Doug and I talk about our thoughts on ISTE19, his IGNITE talk on screen time quantity vs quality, communication issues in education and how often miscommunication hurts us, the difference between problems with internal and external communication, how educators need to be more transparent with their audience, the need for leaders to allow for failure in their staff, and the value of using your students as resources in your classroom.
So, sit back and enjoy Episode 92 of the Planning Period Podcast, my interview with Douglas Konopelko.

Doug, thank you so much for joining me on this out-of-order and chaotic conversation. I enjoyed it, even if it probably seems insane to the listeners.
To connect with Doug, find him on Twitter, @dkonopelko.
If you have comments or questions about the show, you can always connect with me on twitter, @BradShreffler, and now on Instagram @BradShreffler as well. I love to hear from you there. That\'s also a great place to connect if you\'d like to be a guest on the show. Or, the Feedback Page on my website gives you options for feedback as well, which you can find at BradShreffler.com/Feedback.
Until next week, how valuable is your screentime?
