With many rural communities in North Dakota, the importance of rural grocery stores is absolutely critical for folks. But recently, rural grocery stores have been closing left and right. Only 98 rural grocers remain open with 16 in financial distress and 15 considered non-profits.  In this podcast episode, guest host Karla Rose Hanson visits with Lori Capouch, Rural Development Director with the ND Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives. Capouch has been researching the decline of rural grocery stores and visits with Hanson about the work NDAREC is doing to make sure they stay open.  "We care that people live in these rural places," says Capouch.  Take a listen to Capouch's full interview with Karla Rose Hanson by clicking on the 'play' icon above.
