Afghan Rap Artists Call for Voters

The story features the winners of a contest to find an anthem for the upcoming presidential elections in Afghanistan. The program, entitled Sola (meaning peace), was launched with the aim of spreading the message that “participation in the election is cool!”. Some of this footage was filmed in Darulaman Palace, with two of the contestants who are backing the program. The young rappers offer their thoughts about democracy, the importance of voting and why the country’s youth should care about the election. Teaser: Many young Afghan rap artists have taken part in a competition to determine an anthem for the upcoming presidential elections. Two males and one female, all from Herat, won the contest. Their lyrics spoke about the importance of people going to the polls.
