Episode 1 Tribal Disenrollment

Published: Dec. 7, 2015, 12:15 a.m.

The show’s topic is about tribal disenrollment, and how disenrollment is detrimental to individual and tribal existence and identity. When tribes decide to remove people from their rolls, individuals who have been on tribal rolls for many years, decades, the action(s) of removing tribal members, if the reasons are other than to maintain the safety of tribal members, is a move to weaken your tribal base.
Has the tribal body been party to the removal of some individuals, or are the actions taken by a few individuals who may have an agenda? In some cased, the disenrollment of an individual, or families is initiated by individuals on tribal councils, and the tribal body may not know, or, may not agree with the council. Do you feel the BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs) should have a say in disenrollment?
