Growing Through the Highs & Lows of Life with Aaron Amuchastegui and Ian Lobas - Episode 185

Published: Dec. 7, 2020, 10 a.m.

Aaron Amuchastegui has had some of the lowest lows and highest highs one can imagine.

In this episode, Ian Lobas talks with this inspiring family man about his incredible journey and the powerful lessons he’s learned along the way.

It’s hard to believe that Aaron grew up in a small town in Oregon and struggled to fit in when he transitioned from high school to college. It is easier to believe that he was the high school valedictorian and was voted most likely to succeed. Today he’s a Christian, construction and real estate entrepreneur and Ironman but there were a few times when Aaron’s world came crashing down.

Aaron openly tells the story of how hanging out with the wrong people and doing crazy things landed him in a Southern California prison for two years. He reveals how that experience woke him up and made him hell bent to make up for lost time when he returned to society.

His determination paid off. Aaron recalls the awesome feeling of making six-figures at only 25 years of age but he also takes us on the rollercoaster ride that was his life after that. Between a market crash, then recovering only to get put out of business, most of us would have given up, but not Aaron and his wife Kaleena. Their struggles helped them to appreciate the real priorities in life and they eventually decided to pull their kids out of school and created what they call The 5-Hour School Week, an innovative approach to education that has revolutionized their family’s life.

Take a listen to learn how, like Aaron and Kaleena, you can learn from difficult experiences, rebuild even stronger than before and change the trajectory of your life.

When you’re done listening, be sure to check out an earlier episode in which Ian chats with Jon Vroman, who is mentioned in this episode.

Some topics they discussed include:

The fear of not fitting in

Moving past bad decisions

How easy it is to be wasteful with money

The more successful a couple gets, the further apart they may grow

The power of saying yes to curiosity

Healthier ways to learn
