Hollywood has had a long history of whitewashing and\\nstereotyping different groups \\u2013from brownface to blackface and\\nyellowface. For Arabs and Muslims, persistent clich\\xe9s throughout\\nHollywood\\u2019s history range from desert scenes with camels and palm\\ntrees, and characters cast as barbaric villains, belly dancers, or\\nterrorists among others.

On this edition of Making Contact we\\u2019ll meet people confronting\\nracist depictions of Muslims and Arabs in pop culture and politics;\\nand two young women evaluating societal expectations placed on\\nthem.
