(#3) Motion = Emotion

Something that has really helped me in my journey is the principle that motion=emotion. If you do the same thing that you have always done, you will feel the same way that you have always felt.

\\n

We have evidence of this, right?

\\n

If you were asked to describe someone that was depressed you would probably say:

\\n
    \\n
  • They are slouching
  • \\n
  • Their shoulders are rounded
  • \\n
  • They are frowning
  • \\n
  • Their gaze is down
  • \\n
\\n

Compared to someone who is happy that might:

\\n
    \\n
  • Be sitting up tall
  • \\n
  • Smiling
  • \\n
  • Have relaxed shoulders
  • \\n
\\n

Sometimes creating an emotional change is as simple as shifting our posture.

\\n

My partner and I started going to the gym about a month ago and I noticed that since having regular movement I feel a lot happier, healthier, stronger, more confident, more energized, more creative.

\\n

As we shift into winter it can sometimes be harder to get movement into our day but here are some tips to stay active:

\\n
    \\n
  • DANCE, turning on the music when you are doing chores can be really fun and empowering
  • \\n
  • Yoga & stretching, even if you don\'t want to go to a studio there are TONS of free videos online to help you
  • \\n
  • Walk, even if it is too cold to walk outside, try to walk around the house while chatting on the phone with a friend
  • \\n
\\n
