Breanne and Yoko were evenly matched. To a novice Judoka (Judo player), or spectator, there was nothing going on. Breanne would go in for a hip throw and Yoko would tie her up, negating the throw. The same would happen when Yoko attempted a head and arm throw. Breanne would close the SPACE, and tie her opponent up, neutralizing all chance for a throw or takedown.
\\nThe match was tied, all at once the horn sounded and the match went into a sudden death. Although Breanne eventually prevailed, as she was leaving the mat Yoko whispered into Breanne\\u2019s ear, \\u201cYou totally controlled the SPACE, and the match.\\u201d They hugged, exchanged social media info, and that was that.
\\nBoth Breanne and Yoko knew this essential element of conflict, \\u201cThe one that controls the SPACE, by definition, controls the outcome.\\u201d Conflict is relational. We live and and die, according to our relationships.
\\nThe PRINCIPLE of controlling SPACE is vital, yet misunderstood in every day life. It was \\u201cclosing\\u201d the SPACE between them that won the match. The \\u201ctie-up\\u201d is a closeness thing.
