On 11th March 2019, we celebrated our 140th anniversary and we’ve been taking a look back at a vast and interesting history of banking and finance. In this podcast, we hear an address by F. E. Steele who became Director of Studies at the Institute of Bankers in 1923. Thanks to his efforts, the Institute’s network of local centres expanded rapidly in the 1920s. An abridged version of his 1924 BBC radio broadcast is read here by Osmond Plummer, Senior Lecturer at The London Institute of Banking & Finance.
