Born in 1861, Ishi was the last known member of the Native American Yahi people from the present-day state of California. If you recognize his name or story, it may be credited to Ishi: The Last Yahi, a 1993 documentary film that worked to educate the public about California\\u2019s relationship with Native Americans.
