The Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant, on the coast between San Francisco and Los Angeles, will soon reach the end of its operating licenses. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission, last week, refused to grant PG&E\\u2019s request to shortcut the license extension process; given the ongoing discovery of earthquake faults near the plant, license extension is controversial.
