Would Elevating Some Roads Solve Some Interstate Flooding?

Because of flooding, I-29 and I-680 north of Council Bluffs have been closed or threatened with closure for six straight months. Road engineers have been looking at what can be done to stop or mitigate future flood closings, including elevating the road in some low spots. Austin Yates with Iowa DOT explains some of the pros and the cons to the ideas being tossed around as solutions.
