Attorney Says Convicting Former Cop Charged with Assault is Unlikely
Testimony began this week in the assault charge filed against former Omaha police officer Scotty Payne in the death of Zachary Bearheels during his encounter with police in June 2017. Omaha defense attorney Bill Gallup says he believes that a variety of evidence and the nature of the encounter will make it difficult for the prosecution to obtain a conviction.
