A Change of Heart on Eminent Domain For Juvenile Center
Douglas County Commissioner Mike Boyle has introduced a resolution asking the County Board to rescind it's July vote to use eminent domain to obtain a building at 18th and Howard to build a juvenile detention center. Boyle tells us that he is still in favor of improving juvenile services, but citizen complaints and concerns for the impact of the neighborhood led to his change of heart on the property involved.
