GM has put more than a thousand workers on layoff at a Canadian factory that makes The Silverado \\u2013 the company\\u2019s top-selling vehicle in the US. Some progress at the bargaining table was reported, but committees are still stuck on major issues like wages and health insurance costs. More than 49,000 workers walked off their jobs on Monday in a dispute over the union's quest to get a bigger share of GM's profits and the company's goal of cutting labor costs.
