b'We explore the topic of homelessness\\nwith Michael Gaulden.\\xa0 Michael is an\\nauthor, entrepreneur, community activist and advocate for the homeless.\\xa0 His story is remarkable.\\n\\n\\n\\nMichael and his mother grew up\\nhomeless from the ages of 7 through 17.\\xa0 They\\nlived in cars, parks, shelters, stairwells and bus stations.\\xa0 With no money, no home and no refrigerator, he\\nexperienced severe hunger that felt like his own body was digesting itself. He\\nand his mother relied on food from shelters, but often those resources were empty,\\nand he was forced to beg or worse simply to survive.\\n\\n\\n\\nMichael tells the story of how he\\ndiscovered education as his way out of the homeless trap.\\xa0 Despite making tremendous strides in\\nlearning, doing his homework under a street light, being told by adults he was\\ndoomed to fail and getting constantly teased and harassed by other children, Michael\\npersevered and succeeded.\\xa0 He was awarded\\na full ride scholarship to UCLA and graduated with a double major in Political\\nScience and African American Studies.\\n\\n\\n\\nMichael now focuses his life as an\\nadvocate for the homeless.\\xa0 As CEO of\\nCreating First Impressions, he and his team provide resources and skills\\ntraining to help struggling people find their way out of homelessness.\\n\\n\\n\\nWe explore his incredible story\\nincluding working as a high school student to earn enough to finally secure a\\nstable home for his family.\\xa0 We learn how\\ncity leaders push the homeless out of communities and often out of town\\ncompletely. We learn how in order to climb out of homelessness, the individual\\nneeds to believe in themselves first and want to make their life meaningful.\\n\\n\\n\\nWith homelessness getting more\\nattention in the local and national media, it is intriguing to hear a story of\\na person that experienced the struggle first hand.\\xa0 The homeless are not nameless and\\nfaceless.\\xa0 They are real people with real\\nstories and often with great value to offer others.\\n\\n\\n\\nWhat can we do to help?\\xa0 Let\\u2019s focus in our own community.\\xa0 Often it just takes a friendly conversation\\nto start the process.\\xa0 Reach out.\\xa0 Simple gestures and offerings go a long way\\nto helping those in need get on their feet.\\xa0\\nThe end result is a Win-Win outcome where the person in need is lifted\\nup and the community overall is improved.\\n\\n\\n\\nJRP0042\\n\\n\\n\\nMichael Gaulden Info:\\n\\n\\n\\nMichael Gaulden Author website:\\xa0 http://michaelgaulden.com/Creating\\nFirst Impressions:\\xa0 http://creatingfirstimpressions.org/hope/Monarch Schools:\\xa0 https://monarchschools.org/\\n\\n\\n\\nJohn Riley Project Info:\\n\\n\\n\\nBookings?
