Alabama State Looks Beyond The Horizon

INSiiGHTS met with Interim Athletic Director Melvin Hines and Associate Athletic Director of Finance, Derrick Magee as Alabama State University was poised to become the first HBCU to host a BCS Bowl Game. The recently created Legends Bowl had its eyes set on the Montgomery, Alabama institution with a newly erected stadium that just held it's first year anniversary.

Alabama State's athletic administration discussed the $80 million dollars the University committed towards facilities and the plan for the athletic department. Alabama State wants to considered "a great institution that just happens to be a HBCU." They discuss their plan in a 30 minute conversation with, the Coach.

Alabama State is formulating a plan for the advancement of their institution and have set the athletic department up as "the front porch of the house." It is imperative that athletics creates a positive framework to promote the academic programs and to draw quality students to the Montgomery, Alabama campus.
