S01 E03 - Platos Cave

Published: June 8, 2020, 3:58 a.m.

Should you take the Blue Pill or the Red Pill?  We highly recommend the Red Pill.  In this episode, D & J discuss Plato’s Cave Allegory.  A philosophical discussion about knowledge and truth, and questioning the chains that keep us bound to dogma, ideology, and various beliefs.  Plato tells a story in the Republic about a hypothetical scenario where people – like us, are bound in a cave and restricted in what they can see and experience.  These people are only exposed to the images, sounds, and influences controlled by others. He then asked the question of what happens when one of those people gets free and learns the truth? How will this newly freed person respond? How will the others respond to him and he new found “truth”?

Plato’s Cave permeates the life of a Green Beret whether we realize it or not, we think through this all the time. To be effective in our jobs, we have to live with and embrace many foreign cultures and people.  People with values and experiences vastly different from our own, yes we have to have empathy. That experience then influences how we view and function in our western culture.  We can't undo taking the Red Pill, it's too late.  So we want you to take the Red pill with us, engage in Plato’s Cave, apply it to your life, and see where it leads. As always, tell us your thoughts, give us your ideas and opinions, and challenge ours.  You have nothing to lose by taking the red pill!
