Published: March 31, 2020, 9 a.m.

John Viola, one of the United Kingdom's first official Fifa-licenced player intermediaries, joins host Dan Ogunshakin on Inside the Beautiful Game to chat about his career in football.

John moved from financial services into player representation in the mid-1990s. During his more than two decades as an intermediary he has worked with the likes of World Cup winners Roberto Carlos and Christian Karembeu, Claudio Caniggia, and former Socceroos captain Craig Moore. In recent years, John has launched an e-learning course in football intermediary which is now developed into an MBA.

On the pod, they discuss John's early days as a football lover in Glasgow, why intermediaries are a necessary evil in today's game, the impact of the Bosman ruling and which player's wife wanted to live in a Scottish castle when her husband signed for Glasgow Rangers.

This episode was recorded on February 19th, 2020.
