Episode 22 features English football coach, Steve Darby, who has worked in Bahrain, Australia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, Laos, India and England.
After failing to make it as a professional footballer, Darbs took up coaching young and earned his UEFA A Licence aged just 24. During a lengthy career, Steve enjoyed notable success with Johor FA and Perak in Malaysia, the Vietnam women’s team, and Singapore’s Home United. He also served as Thailand assistant manager under Peter Reid and Bryan Robson.
On the pod, he and host Dan Ogunshakin discuss growing up in Liverpool at a time of Bill Shankly and the Beatles, how football broke his heart, coaching in Southeast Asia, match-fixing and so much more.
