Veterans Day Special 2020: Utah's Relentlessly Resilient veterans

Published: Nov. 11, 2020, 7:20 p.m.

Today is Veterans Day, a day where we celebrate and thank our military members who are serving and have served our great nation. This year, as many celebratory events have been canceled or moved into a virtual space, there are still many ways to show appreciation for our military men and women. The Utah Department of Veterans and Military Affairs have several suggestions, from encouraging Utahns to build relationships with Utah's Veteran community by using the hashtag #HonorUtahVeterans, to delivering some Happiness for Heroes with physical and digital messages. Boyd is happy to do his part by honoring our Utah heroes on this Veterans Day by sharing the story of Master Sergeant Casey Kunimura and reminding us that freedom isn’t free.  Widow Jennie Taylor has been a wonderful example of resilience in the face of the loss of her husband, the late Major Brent Taylor. As a veteran’s advocate and Civilian Aide to the Secretary of Army, she has sought out opportunities to inspire and lift those in her field of influence. Jennie is reaching out to new audiences as the host of a new KSL Podcast, Relentlessly Resilient. She joins Boyd with a preview of the podcast and to discuss the importance of resilience in our complicated and ever-shifting world.  ‘Inside Sources with Boyd Matheson,’ Opinion Editor at Deseret News, takes you inside the latest political news and current events, providing higher ground for today's discussions. Listen live Monday through Thursday from 11 am to noon at 1160 AM and 102.7 FM, online at KSLNewsradio.com, or on the app. Listen on-demand as a podcast on your favorite platform or web browser.
