The Utah Initiative Protection Act and medical marijuana

Former Utah Sen. Steve Urquhart joins Scott Howell and Bob Bennett to talk about his Utah Initiative Protection Act. It's a plan that would protect, as he puts it, the will of the people. Back in 2018, Utah voters approved Proposition 2, which would have legalized medical marijuana. Then, the legislature made changes to the voter initiative through a compromise bill that replaced it, raising questions about the legislature's power to undo citizen initiatives. Urquhart says the UIPA would help protect ballot initiatives like Prop 2 from legislative meddling.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
