The Gettysburg Address: Battle against weariness

Published: Nov. 19, 2020, 7:08 p.m.

On this day in history in 1863, one of the most memorable and inspiring talks in our nation's history was given to dedicate the grounds of the most bloody battle fought in the American Civil War as a military cemetery. President Abraham Lincoln stood in the battlefield of Gettysburg, which just four months earlier was littered with fallen American soldiers, and in under 275 words reminded a war-weary public why we have to fight for our Union. Today, Boyd would like to remind us of those inspiring words as our nation once again faces a nearly incomprehensible weariness that is resultant of the worldwide battle against the coronavirus pandemic.  ‘Inside Sources with Boyd Matheson,’ Opinion Editor at Deseret News, takes you inside the latest political news and current events, providing higher ground for today's discussions.
