Published: Dec. 16, 2020, 8:02 p.m.

On this day in history in 1773, a group of colonists boarded British ships in a pivotal protest that lead to the American Revolution. This Boston Tea Party not only declared what these colonists were against but what were they for. Today's lawmakers and politicians can learn a lesson from the Boston Tea Party. A lesson in standing up for what you are for, not just what you are against. Because of the colonists' convictions, the revolution spread from Boston to Philadelphia where in 1787, their ideals were captured in the creation of the Constitution. This "Boston to Philadelphia model” could help lead Salt Lake City, Utah, and the United States of America to better, more unified days. ‘Inside Sources with Boyd Matheson,’ Opinion Editor at Deseret News, takes you inside the latest political news and current events, providing higher ground for today's discussions.
