Suicide Prevention Day: Talking about and naming suicide

Published: Sept. 10, 2020, 5:59 p.m.

Today is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Day, a day to raise awareness on the impact of suicide, talking about mental health issues, and how to find tools and resources to help fight the loss of a loved one, including yourself, by suicide. Recently Boyd has had some amazing guests discuss issues surrounding mental health and finding hope in the darkness of depression; Counselor Jenny Howe on talking to your kids about suicide,  Amanda Dickson on her National Suicide Prevention Day special airing today, and Kevin Guest on Timeless Principles for Living a Life in Harmony including finding hope in trials. Boyd agrees full-heartedly that it is time to break the taboo around discussing suicide, to name and talk about this devastating epidemic. If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide, KSL encourages you to call the suicide prevention hotline at 1-800-273-TALK. ‘Inside Sources with Boyd Matheson,’ Opinion Editor at Deseret News, takes you inside the latest political news and current events, providing higher ground for today's discussions. Listen live Monday through Thursday from 11 am to noon at 1160 AM and 102.7 FM, online at KSLNewsradio.com, or on the app. Listen on-demand as a podcast on your favorite platform or web browser.
