Scott Howell on the Utah Senate deciding to discuss the Dixie State name change

Published: Feb. 25, 2021, 6:51 p.m.

Former Senate Democratic Leader Scott Howell is excited that the Utah Senate will be discussing Dixie State University’s name change bill after all! While previously, the senate had no plans to hold a hearing, a student-led protest at the capitol on Wednesday caused them to reconsider. Many, such as Boyd, believe that the bill is necessary for the success of Dixie’s former and future students, while others fear the change would be an attack on the school’s history.  ‘Inside Sources with Boyd Matheson,’ Opinion Editor at Deseret News, takes you inside the latest political news and current events, providing higher ground for today's discussions.
