Mindfulness: A Meditation

Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we\\u2019re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what\\u2019s going on around us.

This meditation is designed to experience, embrace, and practice mindfulness.\\xa0

When we are mindful, our mind is fully attending to what is happening, to what we are doing.\\xa0\\xa0

The benefits of mindfulness include:\\xa0

  • Higher brain functioning
  • A sense of well-being.
  • Increased immune function
  • Lowered blood pressure
  • Lowered heart rate
  • Increased awareness
  • Increased clarity in thinking and perception
  • Lowered anxiety levels
  • Experience of being calm and internally still
  • Experience of feeling connected
  • Self Compassion

As with meditation, mindfulness is in our control.\\xa0 Take a few minutes to in take part in this meditation which is actually an activity for my Chart for Compassion course, entitled "Cultivating Compassion through Travel."\\xa0 \\xa0
