In Conversation: The Pedagogy of Performance

Published: March 21, 2017, 11:23 a.m.

In this episode we divert from our usual discussion of Guildhall events to delve into “the pedagogy of performance”, or the method and practice of teaching performance. We’re joined by Vanessa Lingham, Lecturer in Costume at Guildhall, and Sue Dent, Music Teacher at Guildhall, both of whom are also on our PGCert Performance Teaching. We discuss different approaches to teaching and teaching performance, reflective practice, the two-way process between teachers and students and the importance of an interdisciplinary approach. The PGCert in Performance Teaching at the Guildhall School is designed to support professional musicians, actors, theatre technicians and dancers who teach as part of their practice as performers or in undertaking a portfolio career.
